How to Add Falling Snowflakes in Your WordPress Blog

Falling snowflakes can help create holiday cheer and excitement on your website to make it visually more appealing. This is a fun way to add animations to your WordPress site for winter and the holiday season.

However, knowing how to add these effects without slowing down your site is key to maintaining a great user experience.

Over the years, we have added different fun effects to our personal blogs, business sites, and more. This has given us a solid understanding of how to boost a site’s appearance without affecting its SEO or loading speed.

In this article, we will show you how to easily add falling snowflakes to your WordPress blog, step by step.

💡Quick Answer: How to Add Falling Snowflakes in WordPress

To add falling snowflakes, simply install the DB Falling Snowflakes plugin. Then, go to DB Snow Flakes to choose your snowflake colors, size, and speed.

Finally, click ‘Save Changes’ to see the effect live.

Why Add Falling Snowflakes to Your WordPress Blog?

Integrating falling snowflakes on your WordPress blog makes it look festive. This can encourage users to stay longer to see the effects.

For example, if you write about Christmas or winter-related topics, a snowfall effect adds a special touch to your website.

Plus, if you have a WooCommerce store with holiday discounts, displaying snowflakes creates excitement. In turn, this can help increase conversions and sales.

Having said that, let’s see how to easily add falling snowflakes to your WordPress website.

How to Add Falling Snowflakes to Your WordPress Blog

First, you need to install and activate the DB Falling Snowflakes plugin. For detailed instructions, see our beginner’s guide on how to install a WordPress plugin.

Upon activation, visit the DB Snow Flakes menu tab from the WordPress admin sidebar to configure the plugin settings.

Here, start by choosing the date and month for when the snowflakes will start falling.

You can also select the end dates for the snowflakes from the dropdown menus next to the ‘Stop on’ option.

For example, if you want snowflakes to appear from December 1st to January 1st, simply select those dates.

Choose a start and end date for snowflakes

Next, type the maximum number of snowflakes to display on the screen.

We recommend keeping this number between 30 and 50. This ensures the animation looks good without slowing down your website.

Once you have done that, choose the minimum and maximum size of the snowflakes.

Then, use the slider next to the ‘Speed’ option to control how fast they fall.

Choose the size and number of falling snowflakes

Now, scroll down to the ‘Colors’ section. You can choose 5 options, and the plugin will randomly select colors from this list.

Make sure to pick colors that stand out against your background. For example, if your site has a white background, use light blue or gray instead of white.

Finally, click the ‘Save Changes’ button to store your settings.

Choose colors for snowflakes

Now, you can visit your website homepage to view the falling snowflakes in action.

If you have set a later date for the falling snowflakes, they will start falling on your screen at that time.

Don’t forget to check your website on a mobile device. You want to make sure the snowflakes don’t block important text or buttons.

  1. That’s a great idea because Christmas is approaching, and in the Czech Republic, we get a lot of snow every winter. I manage a website for a kindergarten, and I think both the children and parents would really enjoy the falling snowflake effect.

  2. Its the seasonal touches like this that really help with engagement
I have shared this guide with a friend of mine who owns a small online gift shop. It will be valuable to her, especially the step by step for the DB Falling Snowflakes plugin would help her.

  3. I have installed wp-snow to try today and it looked amazing on chrome, but on safari it is awful. It just shows big blocks and hideous zigzag lines and doesn’t work at all. We had to remove it…..very disappointed…is there something I should have done to rectify this?.

  4. I’ve read a lot about how this created endless issues for accessibility for websites… You should definitely look it up.
